This new, rustic, 1920s style cottage on a remote Michigan island is completely off the grid, operating on solar power, battery power, and a wood stove.  A lot of surveying and foot expeditions of the small island allowed GPD's architect to find the perfect location, where he had to remove only three trees to make room for the modest cottage.
