the belle shore

In 2001, GPD finished the extensive renovation of Edgewater's Belle Shore Hotel and Apartments.

The Building was originally developed by Max Malter, who named the hotel after his wife, Belle. With its striking Art Deco facade, Egyptian motif, green terra cotta cladding, and gold-colored terra cotta pilasters, the Belle Shore Hotel was a unique spectacle when it was built in 1929.

After the depression and World War II, the Hotel showed signs of neglect. By the 1990's it was a neighborhood eyesore. But when the surrounding section of Bryn Mawr Avenue was added to the National Register of Historic Places, motivation to restore the Belle Shore grew.

GPD is responsible for the beautiful exterior restoration as well as the grand interior lobby and individual apartment specifications.
