english country

Originally owned by the Sears family, three Sears Catalogue made-to-order summer cottages were built upon this picturesque plot in Lake Bluff, Illinois in the 1920's. For many years they were maintained as a family retreat. In the 1970's, new owners joined the cottages into a single family home with a Post Modern, synthetic stucco facade and little to no detailing...

When the current owners purchased this home, they came to Thom and Rick, principals of GPD to redesign it into an English country mansion, befitting the North Shore and their fairy tale vision.

This home is the winner of the Renaissance Award from the National Association of Home Builders' Council and REMODELING Magazine.
